Beginners Workshop Level 1

More Patterns for Play

This is the workshop for advanced beginners who want to expand their exploration into Kinbaku (Japanese-inspired bondage). We address both partners who take an active, albeit different, role. We will repeat and expand on the known basic principles and introduce new ones. You will learn how to combine them, developing “real” patterns for play with your partner. We will emphasize movement, control, (non-verbal) communication, emotional and physical limits, as well as intention based consent. The goal is for you to be able to create beautiful shared moments in ropes.

This is a practical workshop: you will tie and get tied a lot.

For whom is it?

This workshop is for couples (of all ages and gender constellations) who are advanced beginners in Japanese-inspired bondage. e.g. who did the WS „From zero to Patterns & Play“. Frequently asked questions:

I am a total beginner in the rope. Is the workshop suitable for me?

The ongoing course is not designed for total beginners, there is the workshop Discover Kinbaku – Essentials: From Zero to Patterns and Play. In order to be able to participate really intensively and also to achieve the maximum effect for you, you should master the technical principles for simple bondage, e.g. handcuffs, and have first experiences with upper body harness.

I do not have a partner. Can I still participate?

The workshop is deliberately advertised for couples. Even if you do not have a bondage partner yet – this is Berlin! Put an Ad in the usual platforms and you will certainly find someone who wants to share the experience with you.

Is switching allowed?

Switching is not “forbidden”, but the program is designed so that there will not be time to duplicate the exercises. We do not want the non-switchers be bored… As the principles are repeated in different exercises, you can of course do the exercises alternately if both partners want to learn actively.

My body is not as flexible as the models on the internet, can I still attend the workshop?

Yes. Kinbaku is the play on the limits of the individual possibilities of the person in the ropes, not the execution of fixed techniques. Important is the willingness of the partner in the rope to be in the rope for the limited time and the willingness of the partner with rope to deal responsibly with this gift. We will practice the techniques and principles in the workshop.

I have a partner who is a lot heavier than me. Do I learn to better control and move him?

Yes, the partner’s control on the ground, inspired by Judo / Aikido techniques, is addressed and practiced in the workshop.
