Hashira Advanced
Another dimension of challenge (2 Days Workshop)
In this Weekend Intensive, we will explore the most traditional, ancient, primal form of Kinbaku. We will utilising the upright pole (hashira – 柱) for ties that evoke exposure, vulnerability, and pressure. But we don’t focus on the technique alone. Being captured and tied to a pole is deeply entrained in our sexual phantasies. We will take a fresh look at what is perceived as Japanese aesthetics – whilst tying „for real“. By doing so, we will dive deeper into the power dynamics of take and surrender. so this workshop will become an intense technical and emotional journey.
For whom is it?
This workshop is for couples (of all age and gender constellations) who gained solid upper-intermediate level in Japanese-inspired bondage and are looking to explore Hashira bondage.
Both partners in ropes should be used to manage sustainable and safe 30 – 40 min Gote or Armbinder based routines in (semi-)suspension, including adaptations of standard ties and figures.
Bring along: Riggers bring along at least 12 jute ropes, 5 or 6 mm, cut to a length suitable for you and your model. Models (and maybe riggers, too) choose some inspiring clothing.
This is a practical workshop, you will tie a lot.
…as a rigger:
- exploring possibilities beyond bamboo: beams / poles and understanding the basic tools for safe and sustainable Hashira ties
- safely mastering the „iconic“ Hashira positions in our style
- understanding important non-technical aspects and tools to create a shared experience of intimacy
- gaining confidence in your abilities and self-confidence for application in private play
- getting more confident in expressing your own intention and kink desires in ropes
… as a rope-bottom:
- developing the sense of your Center as a basecamp for your experience on Hashira
- increasing your capability to master challenging positions as a key to positive experiences on Hashira
- practicing using your attention to connect deeper with yourself and your partner
- developing a feeling of your emotional and physical limits and positively communicating them
- learning receptivity, staying soft under the impact of the ropes
- finding a feeling of internal safety during more challenging ties
Content
We will introduce the needed tools and techniques to create safe and sustainable positions on the Hashira, not just hanging „in front“ of the pole. This creates a very specific feeling and look.

This is a practical workshop, you will tie a lot.
Warm and cozy place, superfriendly, welcoming and caring people, great workshops where you learn a lot more about Kinbaku than just patterns. If you wanna study Naka Style / Semenawa in Berlin, this is the place to be. Highly recommended also for bottoms!

Amazing location, professional workshops and teaching, full of events on a side (practice, side lesson, drawing). I can just recommend Discover Kinbaku.
Fabio
Amazing workshops with an excellent team and impeccable teaching capacities. I have learnt a lot from all of my visits to the studio and definitely recommend them to anyone who is serious about ropes. I would also like to add that this space, including their jam, was so far one of the most queer and women* friendly open rope spaces in Berlin.

A beautiful place and beautiful people, I always had deep experiences with them and the quality of teaching is really high. What I had during the workshops and the meeting there was not only techniques teaching but also the possibility to live my emotions and share them without feeling any kind of shame or feeling judged. Highly recommend for any kind of level. See you there!

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you get to improve your rope skills. The teaching is very well balanced between technique, feeling, body awareness, safety and playfulness. Lessons are well structured and there is even a handout to remember keypoints and harnesses 🙂 To sum up, you'll learn loads and have fun at the same time - highly recommend it.
Fee

A very nice and cozy place, the team taking care of it is awesome and welcoming. The room where you practice is very Japanese looking and really ads up to the experience. Great professionals and workshops a must go to place.

A beautiful and special place. The workshops at Discover Kinbaku are no shallow or chaotic fast food, but well thought-of concepts with a learning theory behind it, which doesn't only cover knots and patterns, but e.g. also interpersonal dynamics, communication and the side of the rope bottoms. All in a respectful, welcoming and open atmosphere, and the team has a lot of valuable experience to share. Would love to attend more classes in the future!
