Semenawa II (Intermediate)

Adding gravity and flow (2-Day Workshop)

In this Weekend Intensive, we will build on the basic concepts and tools we introduced in “Semenawa I” to elevate semenawa floor ties into dynamic sequences integrating suspension. We introduce various ways to create torsion, dynamic body control and movement. Through that we achieve an impact on the body as well as specific aesthetics, while maintaining control, emotional tone, rhythm, and safety.

For whom is it?

This workshop is for couples (of all age and gender constellations) who already have some experience in Japanese-inspired bondage and want to engage with physically or emotionally challenging semenawa shibari in full suspension.

Bottoms must have made first experiences with torsion loaded positions in semi-suspension. They attend their body and can communicate potential issues in near time.

Riggers must demonstrate proficiency in the basics by tying in less than 5 min a stemless 2 rope Gote, adapted to the body of their bottom and capable for torsion load. They also master effective and safe suspension line locks, both on body harness and on bamboo.

Bring along: comfortable but also inspiring clothing and at least 12 jute ropes, 5 or 6 mm, 7 – 8 m long

…as a rigger:

  • building on the previous learned basic principles of Kinbaku
  • understanding the concepts and philosophy of how to use Torsion to create impact
  • safely mastering more challenging semi- and full suspensions
  • understanding important non-technical aspects, such as communication through rope and tools to create a shared experience of intimacy
  • gaining confidence in your abilities and self-confidence for application in private or at a Jam

… as a rope-bottom:

  • bringing attention to your body, to your feelings and sensations
  • gaining safety in challenging (semi) suspensions by learning to give in to the force of gravity
  • getting familiar with a rope impact and learning to enjoy it
  • developing a feeling of your emotional and physical limits and positively communicating them
  • unlearning common myths about being a rope bottom
  • understanding your responsibility in ropes
