Submissions to the Kinbaku Society of Berlin Magazine

The Kinbaku Society of Berlin has a mission to encourage research, creativity, and development within all rope lovers. Whether you are a reader or a content creator, you are an important part of us! And we want to be more explicitly open about this and let you know that we are interested in what you have to offer! If you have content that you think might be appropriate for the magazine, then we would love for you to submit it!

Our research reflected in the magazine is dedicated to traditional Japanese Rope Bondage. We aim to cherish the tradition without appropriating it.

The themes and topics touched upon in the magazine rotate around the darker aspects of our sexuality. We discuss kink, psychology, ethical pornography, and censorship, as well as our human desire to live despite knowing that suffering and death exists.

We also research different concepts of beauty and how culture affects our perception of it.

More specifically, we are interested in the intersection of Kink or BDSM in Japan and elsewhere, in the context of performative arts and media production.

We accept fiction, documentary text, research articles, poetry, and visual arts (with drawings preferred over photography) that reflect the topics above.

Content should preferably be written in English, although writings in your native language can be submitted as well. With the exception of the “featured artist”, we aim for exclusive / primary publication. We also deliberately restrict the publishing to our limited edition print magazine – there will be no content on the webpage, no pdf version, and nothing to download…

Please read and follow our submission guideline for details, when you consider to submit your contribution.

Every issue has a theme meant to inspire a direction for all those contributing.

The upcoming themes are:

– Female Figures (deadline February 28th, 2025)

– Antagonisms (deadline September 30th, 2025)

We want to keep the magazine a certain size, and with that it’s important to know that not all submissions will be published. This does not mean your submission was not worthy! Just that it was not chosen by the final artist who curates the issues’s content and design. It is possible that we ask to keep your work on hold until we can find a place to make it shine, and you are free to withdrawal your submission at any time (as long as it hasn’t already been agreed upon for publication).

So, with that, please join us in exploring the boundaries of Kinbaku! Whether you live in Berlin or not, we can still all come together in it’s name!
