The Kinbaku Society of Berlin
The Kinbaku Society of Berlin is a forum initiated by a group of passionate, enthusiastic, and creative individuals who research, practice and study traditional Japanese Rope Bondage (Kinbaku or Shibari), and related subcultures. We strive to understand historical and contemporary Japanese conceptualizations of beauty in rope bondage and how these might be thoughtfully translated within a European cultural context. Our hope is to formulate an original expression of Kinbaku that respects its’ Japanese origin without appropriating it.
About the Kinbaku Society
There is no formal membership, no membership cards, no privileges.
Membership is “awarded” based on shared values and past, present, or potential future contribution to the mission of the Kinbaku Society. In the spirit of an “unconference”, people come, when they are interested as well as resourceful to contribute and leave when they need rest, self-care or just re-focus on other projects.
Currently we run two projects, publishing the Kinbaku Society of Berlin (KSB) Magazine and inviting to the Kinbaku Salon.
