Let’s be honest: It’s about sex
Kinbaku is erotic. Kinbaku is for perverts. In Japan, Kinbaku emerged from pornography. So why are we so eager to pretend it is yoga, art or therapy? Perhaps it is time to stop hiding behind beautiful words and become more honest about desire, sexual intention and what we actually want when we tie another person.
What makes a perfect kinbaku photograph?
Three intense days in Copenhagen, a dark room full of ropes, flashes, nervous riggers and sweating bodies – and Sugiura Norio in the middle of it all, moving like a dervish. We came home exhausted, inspired and with one question still unanswered: what makes a Kinbaku photograph truly come alive?
