FEEDBACK
„Bodies under Pressure“ – not just an ordinary workshop, but an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the connection between rope partners in Semenawa. It focused on mindfulness, communication, and session progression. We learned a lot and had a great time together!

There are wonderful rope teachers, there are technically brilliant rope teachers, and then there are the very rare rope teachers who make you understand why rope matters in the first place. Natasha and Alexander are those teachers.
They are knowledgeable, technically exceptional, warm, human and wonderfully approachable. They are refreshingly undogmatic while remaining deeply devoted to Naka Akira’s approach to Semenawa. What makes their teaching special is their desire to dig deeper than the shapes, patterns and technique and into tissue, movement, breath and sensation. Into what happens in the body when rope truly lands.
They invite you to listen to it. To notice what moves through you, what changes, what wants to emerge, and how that impact can find its way into expression.
Alexander is an extraordinarily patient and generous teacher. He meets people where they are, whether they are learning their first single-column tie or working with complex and demanding scenes. He brings the same care, precision and genuine love for the practice to everything he teaches. Nothing is beneath his attention, and nothing is taken for granted.
Natasha brings an extraordinary somatic intelligence to her teaching. She doesn’t just know about somatics. She has lived her way into it. She knows what it is like to be disconnected from your own body, to not know what you’re feeling, to have to slowly find your way back in. With empathy, compassion and a remarkable sensitivity to the places where we get lost from ourselves, she helps students discover the knowledge their bodies already hold. Her teaching creates space for that knowledge to emerge rather than telling you what you are supposed to feel.
And together, they are a couple deeply in love, with each other and with the practice they have chosen to devote themselves to. At the same time, they are profoundly human: navigating the complexities of long-term partnership, commitment, change and the ongoing work of keeping things alive.
That humanity is part of what makes learning with them so precious.
They carry the spark into the space for people where vulnerability, intimacy, curiosity and connection are not instagram buzz-words but things you can actually experience.
If you have the opportunity to learn with Natasha and Alexander, take it.
They are teachers who can fundamentally change the way you experience rope.

When I attended the workshop “Bodies under Pressure” by Alexander_MA and NawaTaNeko together with my wonderful rigger Zoe963, I thought I knew exactly what to expect: a Semenawa workshop full of rope, intensity, and physical challenge. Rope that pushes you. Pressure. Limits. Endurance.
But what I received was so much more. The first exercise seemed almost simple: expanding a classic two-rope gote by adding a third rope. “Take your time between each knot and action. Pause again and again.” And right there, something began that went far deeper than technique.
Space emerged… space and time. Time to observe. Time to feel. Time for the model not to simply be “tied,” but to actively become part of the moment. Being allowed to feel. Being allowed to react. Being allowed to simply exist. To be seen…
And that was exactly what surprised me. Perhaps at times even overwhelmed me.
Because suddenly emotions surfaced without me being able to stop them. Tears came that I could not initially understand, and holding them back was impossible. It felt as though the rope had opened something deeply hidden inside me.
Natasha, in her unique presence, was absolutely enchanting to me. So genuinely gentle, vulnerable, and at the same time incredibly strong. Her openness touched something within me that instantly resonated in return.
And this experience did not end with the workshop. Even in the days afterward, something remained. I was tearful. Extremely sensitive. Deeply emotional. And at the same time calm. Clear. Almost peaceful. The tearfulness has faded by now. But this emotional openness has stayed — and I find that incredibly fascinating.
It makes me feel vulnerable and utterly pure at the same time.
I perceive emotions more consciously now.
I can allow them to exist without immediately running away from them.
I can look at them.
For me, this was yet another profound experience within rope.
Because one thing became especially clear to me there:
In rope, you cannot pretend.
You cannot hide.
And perhaps that is one of the most beautiful and honest truths about rope.
Thank you, Alexander Ma.
Thank you, Natasha NawaTaNeko.
And thank you to my wonderful Zoe963, with whom I was able to share this experience.
For this depth.
This closeness.
This wonderful experience.

I didn’t have much success learning Shibari in courses and workshops before I met Alexander and Natasha. At Discover Kinbaku, I’ve learned not only rope technique, but also how to genuinely look after the person I’m tying and about the true spirit of Kinbaku. Eternally grateful for their knowledge and teaching.

Rope bottoming can be a path of growing as a human in a deep way, if you open your heart to it. Natasha’s coaching has enriched my understanding of my own body, my inner world and my own processes, both in ropes and in life overall. I feel that Natasha genuinely cares about my progress as a rope bottom and I’m happy to be her student.

To speak about Discover Kinbaku, to speak about Natasha and Alexander, is to speak about more than teachers. They are mentors, companions, role models and, most importantly, a safe haven for those of us who have the privilege to learn from them.
It was under their guidance that I first stepped into this particular style of rope bondage. They showed me that it is not only about technique and knots, but about connection, vulnerability and the courage to embrace all facets of ourselves. They revealed the beauty in suffering and the deep truth that it is not only acceptable, but profoundly human, to find joy, meaning and intimacy in this ‘pervy’ side of ourselves.
Together, they taught my partner and me to discover our rhythm, our unique language in ropes. With patience and wisdom, they supported us in moments of struggle and doubt, helping us to see not only the difficulties but also the beauty in what we created together.
Their insight reaches beyond one side of the ropes. They embody and transmit an understanding of both perspectives: the one who ties and the one who surrenders. This depth has given me confidence, strength and trust, and it continues to shape the way I move, tie and connect.
What they have given us is more than knowledge. It is an invitation to growth, authenticity and shared creation. For this, I will always be grateful.

A beautiful and special place. The workshops at Discover Kinbaku are not shallow or chaotic fast food, but well thought out concepts with a learning theory behind them. They do not only cover knots and patterns, but also interpersonal dynamics, communication and the side of the rope bottoms. All in a respectful, welcoming and open atmosphere, and the team has a lot of valuable experience to share. I would love to attend more classes in the future!
