I created the Book Club to continue the conversations that began with my book “Somatics for Rope Bottoms”: a space to meet, experiment and explore embodiment in rope practice and beyond.
SOMATICS FOR ROPE BOTTOMS
Book Club
A free monthly, internationally,
online gathering
The Book Club is a warm, interactive space where we can explore embodiment through rope practice and beyond. Your active participation is welcomed and encouraged. Bring your presence, your questions and your somatic inquiries.
Come as you are. There is no need for years of rope experience and no specific role or identity required. My book is written for anyone who has a body and wants to feel more of it. In the same way, this Book Club is open to everyone who feels drawn to explore embodiment more deeply, in rope practice and in life.
This is not a therapeutic or healing space, nor a workshop on rope bottoming. It is a self guided, self paced space for practising embodiment and engaging in shared reflection on themes of intimacy, conscious sexuality and embodied living.
Topics we explore
Topics evolve with the group and may include:
• Coming into the body
• Feeling and expressing emotions
• Embodied consent
• Safety (not about the nerves:)
• Limits and boundaries
• Movement and non verbal communication
• Processing intense impact
• Surrender
Who is this for?
This space is for rope enthusiasts, riggers, rope bottoms and switches, as well as anyone interested in the practical aspects of embodiment, intimacy and conscious sexuality.
No prior somatic training or years of rope experience are required.
How does it work?
• Live online on Zoom
• Once per month x 90 minutes
• Each session may include a short talk on the monthly topic, a guided somatic solo practice, small group discussions, questions and shared reflection.

The Book Club is designed as a live, participatory space where presence matters. You are invited to participate at your own pace, listen to your body and decide for yourself how deeply you wish to engage.
This is a self responsible exploratory space, not therapy. Confidentiality and mutual respect are expected.
The first part of each session may be recorded for the facilitator’s use only. Recording stops before the interactive part begins. Breakout rooms, group discussions and questions are never recorded and recordings are not shared with participants.
A free monthly online gathering exploring embodiment, intimacy and conscious sexuality through shared inquiry.
Do I need to read Somatics for Rope Bottoms before joining?
You are welcome to join whether you have read the whole book, parts of it or none at all. Reading the book can help you become familiar with my approach, but each session is designed to make sense on its own.
Who can join the Book Club?
Can I join just one session?

What about privacy and recording?
I have been a part of a few book club sessions with Natasha and it has been such a cosy and informative space for me as a rope bottom. Aside from being a fantastic expert at the topic, Natasha is genuinely a very nice and authentic person. She offers insightful ideas and her calm attitude has been my highlight. There is no judgment or awkward vibes but only an inclusive space where everyone is welcome to discuss, brainstorm and share ideas on the topics of the book club, irrespective of gender, body size and experience level.
It’s a stunning read, Nawataneko beautifully puts things into words which I have felt deeply and profoundly while in rope, but not been able to name. I can’t recommend it enough. Her writing feels cathartic, touching, and inspiring, and I’m so looking forwards to carrying these thoughts with me!
Thank you for writing this book. It challenged me to ask all the basic questions - among others why I am attracted to rope, why do I want to get tied up, what is my intention and motivation. But it’s also teaching me to get in touch with my body, to learn how to listen to it and how to read the signals. What you write there, is invaluable for me as a person, and it makes me realize how many of these “invisible” ropes my body is carrying, and how tired and tense it feels from it. A really big thank you, it’s one of the most important lectures for me so far. I feel very grateful.
