I’ve spent years asking myself how people actually acquire complex physical skills. There is a moment when you stop thinking about what your hands are doing and simply know. For me, this is where technique becomes freedom.
FOR RIGGERS
Refining
your craft

Becoming a skilled rigger is not about knowing more ties.
It is about developing the technical proficiency, understanding and embodied skill that give you the freedom to respond, improvise and create. As technique becomes intuitive, your attention becomes available for what really matters: the person in your ropes and the experience you are creating together.
Through individual coaching, you will:
Build confidence
Understand what you are doing and why, so you can make intentional choices rather than depend on memorised patterns.
Embody your skills
Turn technical knowledge into embodied skill until rope handling, tension, movement and body mechanics become increasingly intuitive.
Develop judgement
Understand principles deeply enough to adapt to different bodies, situations and intentions, knowing what to use, when and why.
Focus on the person
As technique demands less attention, you become more available to enjoy the encounter, listen, respond and engage with the person in your ropes.

Whether you are taking your first steps or refining years of experience, individual coaching meets you where you are. Together, we identify what needs attention and develop the skills and understanding that allow your practice to become more confident, fluid and free.

Why explore Kinbaku with me?
My approach to teaching Kinbaku has grown from a lifelong fascination with how we learn complex skills. My scientific background taught me to think in systems and principles, while decades of martial arts practice gave me a deep understanding of embodied learning, movement and repetition. Photography and art have shaped my understanding of aesthetics, composition and expression.
Together with many years of practising and teaching Kinbaku, these different perspectives evolved into the Elements System: my framework for moving from learning forms towards understanding, adapting and eventually creating freely.
When we embody technique, attention becomes free.
Questions & Answers
Who is individual coaching for?
I enjoy teaching everyone from absolute beginners to very advanced riggers, so please don't feel intimidated. Every coaching session is adapted to your experience, goals and the particular challenges you want to work on.
What is the Elements System?
The Elements System is my framework for acquiring and embodying Kinbaku skills. Rather than accumulating patterns, we break complex techniques down into fundamental principles and elements that can be understood, practised and eventually recombined freely.
Grounded in the Japanese principle of Shu Ha Ri, “learn the form, adapt the form, transcend the form”, it provides a structured path from your first steps towards confident, individual expression.
I already attend workshops. Why private coaching?
Workshops are excellent for learning new material and gaining inspiration. Individual coaching allows us to look closely at your own practice, identify habits and gaps and work specifically on what will move you forward.
The aim is not necessarily to learn more, but to make what you already know work better.
Do I need to follow a particular Kinbaku style?
No. We may work with established forms and traditions as part of the learning process, but the aim is understanding the principles behind them. This gives you the ability to adapt what you know to different bodies, situations and intentions.
Where does coaching take place?
Coaching takes place in our private Studio 6×6 in Berlin, either one to one or in small groups. Selected topics can also be explored online via Zoom. Workshops, mentoring and guest teaching are available internationally by invitation.
Still curious?
Do I need to bring a rope partner? Where should I start? I’ve been tying for years but feel stuck. Can we work on a particular challenge or technique? Can you help me prepare for a performance? Can we work specifically on Semenawa? Just ask.

MOABIT
At Discover Kinbaku, I've learned not just rope technique but also how to genuinely look after the person I'm tying and understand the true spirit of Kinbaku.
The experience of the person in the rope is given as much importance as the person with the rope. From a very early stage, improvisation and tying with the energetic flow is encouraged.
Attending a workshop with Natasha and Alexander means meeting two people who create a warm and trusting atmosphere. Their teaching is grounded in the understanding that Kinbaku is about the connection between two people. There is time to experiment, to play and to ask questions, making every session both joyful and deeply personal.
